The children of Orson A Harvey will be celebrating his 80th birthday with an open house in his honor on Saturday, April 16 at the Morgan County Courthouse from 3 to 5 p.m. We would like to invite all his extended family and friends to share in our joy and appreciation for this remarkable man. Dad was born on April 12, 1931 in the small town of Tridell, Utah. He was the seventh child and fourth son of James B. Harvey and his wife, Ethel Diantha Glines. He lost his mother when he was just six years old. She was buried on his birthday. He attended Alterra High School and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He served for two years but an injury forced his release as a disabled veteran. When he returned home, he attended and graduated from the Utah Technical College in Orem. He married Lois Harmon on May 24, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They purchased their first home in Orem, Utah. Dad worked for sometime at Consolidated Western Steel, Geneva Works. After they went out of business, he began working for Sperry/Univac which later became Unisys Corporation. He retired in 1989 and he and mom spent several years going to Arizona in the winter with friends. In 2007 they served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Cove Fort, Utah. After completing their mission, they served as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple. His children and spouses are: Kevin Harvey of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Clark and Colleen Shaw of Clinton, Utah, Elaine and Douglas Nielson of South Jordan, Utah, and Lisa and Jeffery Steffen of Heidelberg, Germany. He has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dad is appreciative of the love and support of his family and friends and looks forward to seeing you all at the open house .
