Jim and Ellie Seely got a late start in the marriage department. Both are native Utahans: Jim was born in Brigham City and Ellie was born in Salt Lake. They met while attending the singles ward in Ogden and knew each other fifteen years before they were engaged and then married. That was 26 years ago. Ellie graduated from Weber State in Child Development and startedÓwith 3 other fellow graduatesÓHorizon School in Ogden. She was the heart, soul and CEO of this enterprise. She endeavored to teach young children by looking at the child as a whole, and meeting the child’s needs. The school had many successful years and touched many lives before it closed last spring after 30 years. At its largest, it accommodated about 80 children at a time. Ellie and Jim’s children attended throughout their primary school experienceÓaccompanying Ellie to school each day. Ellie loves working with children and she continues to do so by volunteering with The Play Factory day care and reading to children at Mountain Green Elementary. She has served on the PTSO board for Morgan Co. secondary schools and is now involved with the drama dept. at Morgan High School–making costumes as one of her duties. Jim graduated from USU in Electrical Engineering. He started worked at Hill Field when he was in school and has been there almost 45 years. The last ten years he has been involved with recruiting college engineering students from Utah and around the country to work at Hill when they graduate. He also awards scholarship money to help them complete their education. They moved to Morgan Co. when the first of their three children were going to attend middle school. Ellie said she investigated various school districts and was most impressed with Morgan County Schools. They moved to Mountain Green 15 years ago and their two sons graduated from Morgan High School. Their oldest son Jim was MHS drama sterling scholar and now attends Dixie College; he will receive his nursing degree next year. Matt was senior class president at MHS and attends USU majoring in business. Both boys served LDS missions: Jim served in Washington D.C. and Matt served in Korea. Both are active in sports–running marathons and doing canyoneering. Katie is a senior at Morgan High School and is this years Drama Sterling Scholar. She just had the lead in the play The Good, the Bad, and the Pirates. Katie takes after her mother in that she is a busy young lady: She loves music and is in the Ovation Choir and has sung in choirs since she was 3 years old. Matt is in charge of the upcoming MHS 5 year reunion on Dec 29th. If you are a graduate of the class of 2006, and want to attend the reunion, give Matt Seely a call at 801-876-3147.
