Lindsey Newton, daughter of Mark and Joan Newton, was chosen as this year’s Family and Consumer Sciences Sterling Scholar! Lindsey received silver at the region and state FCCLA competitions this year in the Chapter Showcase Manual Star Event. She has enjoyed all of her Family and Consumer Science classes at Morgan High School, including foods, child development, adult roles, and interior design. As well as being a member of the school’s chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Lindsey is also participates in the Altitude Club, the Morgan Youth Service Interact Club, and the National Honor Society. Serving as a Vice President of Morgan High School’s chapter of National Honor Society, Lindsey organized and led the student body in this year’s very successful Operation Smile fundraiser. Lindsey remembers well her service experience at Christmas time last year with the Morgan Youth Service Interact Club. A party was held for the children of the Christmas Box House where each child received gifts from Santa Claus and played games with the high school students. Lindsey was touched by the children and their stories. In her free time Lindsey takes pleasure in spending time with friends and family, cleaning, and listening to music. After graduating, Lindsey plans to continue her studies at college this coming fall.
