If you have been lucky enough to steer clear of the flu this season, you may not have noticed the changes around the new Morgan Health Center. The beautiful new building adds to the charm of State Street and the removal of the old building will add additional parking to the back of the center once the weather warms up enough for it to be paved. The clinic held an open house on Friday, March 22, to allow the public to view the new facility and updated equipment. Residents enjoyed walking through and seeing everything up close without having a less fun reason to be there. To their credit, MountainStar worked closely with Mark Walker and RW Design in an attempt to keep as much of the construction as possible in regard to the clinic local. Christopher Payne, clinic manager, complimented the crew saying, Each of the contractors and the subcontractors did an outstanding job completing their work quickly and with quality, especially during the cold winter weather. The new facility includes five exam rooms, a procedure room and new x-ray equipment. The new signage indicates that they now provide Urgent Care services. This has caused some confusion in the community, but the sign merely makes known what the clinic has actually offered all along. Urgent Care is a convenient option when you cannot otherwise get a timely appointment made. You may have to wait longer than those with appointments, but it offers an alternative to waiting for hours in a hospital emergency room. In addition to the needed square footage, the clinic is also adding to their staff. Myra Turner retired after 22 years of service. She will be greatly missed by both the staff and community. Janalene Roseman will join the existing office staff. Roseman has lived in Morgan with her husband Burke for 18 years and they have raised four children here. She is excited to be a part of this great team. Christopher Payne, clinic manager said, Janalene will be a great addition to the clinic. We are excited to have her on board. In July 2013, HCA MountainStar will welcome Dr. Wyatt West as the clinic’s new full-time family physician. MountainStar and the Morgan Health Center are proud to be serving the residents of the Morgan community, remarked Payne. He continued saying, We look forward to providing quality healthcare here at home. Dr. Wyatt West will be joining the clinic in mid-July and Payne encourages residents to establish their care with him as their primary care physician and not just for urgent care needs. He assures, Residents will be greatly satisfied with him as their PCP. Dr. West is a proud Morgan High School graduate and completed medical school at the University of Utah. He is currently completing his family medicine residency in Ogden. West and his wife, Jamie, have two young children. He was the medical director for the Ogden Marathon in May 2012 and medical director for the XTERRA triathlon and trail run. He is also the team physician for Fremont High School’s football team and Weber State University’s women’s athletics. Dr. West and his family enjoy biking, running and vacationing to Southern Utah. He enjoys caring for patients of all ages, and he is looking forward to being a part of the Morgan community again.
