The Morgan Education Foundation is one of hundreds of nonprofit organizations set to benefit from the Love UT Give UT fundraising campaign on Thursday, March 20. Last year, more than 6,500 people from across Utah raised $800,000 for 357 charities in one day. Love UT Give UT’s vision is that everyone contributes to the causes that matter most to them Ò their school, a favorite charity or a specific need. The 24-hour giving campaign uses an online platform, www.loveUTgiveUT.org, with an affordable minimum donation amount of only $10. The Morgan Education Foundation registered as a recipient of the campaign to benefit the four public schools in Morgan County. The foundation promotes excellence in education by providing funds and resources for teacher grants, student scholarships, technology upgrades in classrooms, academics, performing arts and athletics. We are blessed to live among many generous and caring people in Morgan County who want our children to have the best educational experiences possible, stated Brenda Crossley, Morgan Education Foundation president. We invite community members to visit the Love UT Give Utah website on March 20 and contribute to the foundation on this statewide day of giving. No donation is too small or insignificant. Individuals can include special requests for their contribution through the Love UT Give UT online donation form. Donors to the Morgan Education Foundation can specify their monetary gifts be used for technology upgrades, classroom grants, performing arts, etc. Many Utah employers sponsor the event as a whole, or provide matching donations for their employees. Since the employee picks the charity, companies are not forced to pick a favorite cause, reflecting the increasing diversity of Utah’s workforce and population. Mark Farmer, Morgan school board member and Flying J Management Corporation employee, says the campaign is the perfect charitable-giving campaign for his employer. My company really loves this event because it allows us to support the causes that are individually important to our employees, explained Farmer. One of Farmer’s roles as a member of the school board is working as a liaison with the Morgan Education Foundation. For the foundation, this is the type of event that can grow bigger every year, continued Farmer. As more individuals find out about it, and as more employers find out about it and support their employees, this can become quite meaningful for Morgan schools. The Community Foundation of Utah will offer incentives to encourage participation, including: ¢ Leaderboard Grants Ò Organizations that receive the most number of donors during Love UT Give UT in their respective categories will receive additional grants. Categories include: 1) small nonprofits with budgets under $100,000; 2) medium nonprofits with budgets over $100,000 but under $1 million; 3) large nonprofits with budgets over $1 million, and, 4) schools, colleges and universities. ¢ Golden Tickets Ò A donor to a nonprofit will be randomly selected to have $100 added to their donations 12 times during the day. ¢ Matching Funds Ò Donors will have the opportunity to double their dollars for nonprofit organizations that have secured matching funds from generous supporters. The www.loveUTgive UT.org website is powered by Razoo, a venture funded social enterprise that provides secure online platforms that facilitate crowd-sourced fundraising and streamlines the online donation process. The Morgan Education Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to unite the community in acquiring and directing resources to enhance the educational experience of students enrolled in Morgan School District. The board of directors for the foundation is comprised of volunteers including business and community leaders, parents and district administration.
