The position for Morgan City Councilman recently vacated by Bill Cobabe’s departure was filled Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017.
Only two applicants filed for consideration and one withdrew her name because of time constraints. So the lone applicant remaining, Jeffrey Richins, was appointed and sworn in that evening. Richins is a long-time Morgan City resident who raised five children here. He says, “I am at a place in my life where I can give back to the community that has been so great to my family and I.”
Because Cobabe’s vacated position is up for election in November, Richins’ term will end January, 2018 unless he is elected by the people in November.
