The MHS Lady Trojans will be hosting their final home game of the season on Thursday, February 9 against the Bear River Lady Bears. The sophomore team will kick off the action at 3:30 with the JV (MHS gym) and freshmen (MMS gym) both playing at 5:15. The varsity will celebrate Senior Night before the 7:00 pm tip off. Boasting a 6-1 region record, Morgan will play at Ridgeline and Juan Diego before returning home for their final Region 11 game.
The Lady Trojans raised their region record the past week with wins over Ben Lomond 71-26 and Logan 50-29. A balanced scoring game helped the Trojans gain their victory over the Scots on Thursday, January 26. Jaci Jensen led the team with 15 points while Jalyn VanDyke added 14, Kayden Jorgensen 13 and Morgan Cragun 12. Paige Gleason added eight and Lisa Blazzard seven with Marcie Stapley rounding out the game with a field goal. Jorgensen and Cragun both grabbed six boards, and Cragun contributed six steals and Jensen five.
Against Logan, Morgan only led 23-16 at the half, but a big 15-5 third quarter run gave the Lady Trojans a 38-21 lead entering the fourth quarter. Morgan held Logan to eight points while scoring 12 in the fourth period and earned the 21-point victory over the Lady Grizzlies.
Coach Kade Morrell was very excited by his team’s performance. “The team just took it to a good Logan team. I had parents coming up to me after the game commenting on how fun it was to watch the team play and how well they played together. It was very fun to watch.”
VanDyke topped the scoring with 18 points followed by Cragun with eight. Brookelyn Hurlbut contributed seven points and four rebounds with Stapley added five points and five board. Blazzard tallied five points as well with Jorgensen hitting a three, Makennah Morrell a field goal and Gleason a foul shot.
The Lady Trojans invite everyone to their final game of the season on February 9 and would like to thank the community for their support so far this year!
