The Morgan Conservation District is pleased to announce Quincee Dorius as the winner of the 2012 Conservation poster contest.  Quincee is in the fourth grade and attends Mountain Green Elementary.
Four honorable mentions were awarded. Those students were Paige Winegar and Evan Bechtel from Mountain Green Elementary, and Brianna Searle and Karlie Kotter from Morgan Elementary.
This year’s poster contest theme was “Soil to Spoon.”  The contest was designed to help children understand where our food comes from, and how it gets from the soil to our plates.
Mrs. Fearn’s class received a visit from Jason Morgan from the Morgan Conservation District Board on December 12th. The visit included a tasty treat and an overview of farmers in Morgan County.  In addition, Quincee received a $20 cash prize during the visit.  Every student who participated also received a bookmark with a picture of Quincee’s poster on it.
The Morgan Conservation District was pleased to have great participation in this second year program!  Six classes from Morgan County schools participated and an impressive 99 students turned in posters.  The Morgan Conservation District thanks all of the teachers that fit this contest into their curriculum and aided in the process of collecting the posters.
