2012 Sterling Scholars - Ashley Pentz ~ Visual Arts

Article Date:
10 February, 2012 (All day)

The Visual Arts Sterling Scholar representing Morgan High School this year is Ashly Pentz, daughter of Troy and Sonia Pentz! Residents of Morgan may have seen some of her work on display at the Rocky Mountain Fine Art Gallery, at the Morgan County Fair, or even at Morgan High School. Ashly’s favorite classes in high school have been her Fine Arts classes such as Band and Art.

She is a member of Jazz Band, Pep Band, Symphonic Band, Science Olympiad, Welcoming Club, FCCLA, and the Morgan Youth Service Interact Club at Morgan High School. She serves in leadership positions as the Art Club President, French Club Vice President, and a Vice President of the National Honor Society. Ashly remembers well the day a piece of her art was accepted into the Summerville Art Gallery here in Utah and what an honor that was.

She has enjoyed serving the community by performing Jazz music at the Family Tree Assisted Living Center, Morgan Elementary School, and Mountain Green Elementary School. Because of her love of the Arts it is not surprising that some of Ashly’s hobbies outside of school include drawing, playing the saxophone, and composing music.

She is also interested in poetry, jazz, and psychology. Ashly plans to study Music Therapy at Utah State University after graduating high school.

More sterling scholars to come in the weeks ahead in The Morgan County News.
