Raymond D. McMillan will celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday, March 26 and would like to invite his friends to share this day with him at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mountain Green Elementary.
Ray was born March 27, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Meavoux Titcomb and William McMillan.
He graduated from Altamont High School and served in the Air Force as an aerial gunner and a tech sergeant in World War II. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Airman’s Metal with Clusters, three major battle ribbons and earned an award for his expert marksmanship. He completed 31 bombing missions out of England over Europe.
He married Ruby Meriwether and farmed and ranched in Boneta. He later moved to Sunset and then to Morgan and worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 24 years of service.
He raised many paint and quarter horses and several breeds of dogs and enjoyed his association with other horse and dog enthusiasts.
He and Ruby were active 4-H club leaders for 15 years and won many trophies. He served as the Morgan County Fair Chairman for nine years. Following retirement he and Ruby filled a calling as LDS stake missionaries and were workers in the Ogden LDS temple.
He is currently the Singles Adult Leader in the Morgan North Stake and has enjoyed his association with the ward representatives in planning and caring out the quarterly activities. He also enjoys singing in the ward choir.
Ruby passed away on January 22, 1996. Their children are Mike and Ann McMillan, Lynda and Max Gines, Susan and Milan Mecham, Mark and Melinda McMillan, and Cynthia Carver, deceased.
He has 37 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren and two great-great grand children.
He is blessed with especially good friends and appreciates the association he has had with them and the concern that they show for him.
