Barbara Joy Whitear Palmer, 81, returned to the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on July 5, 2012. Barbara was born in Peterson, Utah, on March 9, 1931, to Albert and Clara Whitear. She married Quenton James Palmer on April 16, 1948. Together, they had three children, Cheryle (Randall) Manning, Wendy (Larry) Farr, and Gary (Kathi) Palmer; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was very active in the LDS church. There was no woman more dedicated to serving her Savior and His church in whatever capacity required. Along with many callings in the Relief Society and primary, she served an LDS mission with her husband in Dallas, Texas, an experience she remembered with great fondness throughout her life.
The greatest lesson Barbara taught her family was to love the Lord. She was obedient and faithful every day of her life. Whatever challenge or trial she faced, she did so with unwavering faith, dignity, and assurance that her Heavenly Father would take care of her and her loved ones. The love she carried in her heart for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was boundless and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, four sisters, and two grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Intermountain Hospice Care, to our angel in disguise, Anna, who so compassionately helped care for Barbara, and to her daughter-in-law, Kathi, who provided unending Christ-like service on Barbara’s behalf. Funeral services will be held at the North Morgan Stake Center, 2755 W. Old Highway Road, in Morgan, Utah, on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 12 p.m. A viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, in Salt Lake City on July 12, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. and from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Morgan Stake center on Friday. Interment will take place at the North Morgan Cemetery.
