DECA is one of Morgan High School’s newest clubs. While DECA was founded in 1947, Morgan High School’s chapter of DECA is in its first year. DECA is a career and technical student organization (CTSO) that involves marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. DECA’s areas of focus include business, finance, hospitality, marketing sales and services, entrepreneurship, business management, and other business-related areas.
The organization prepares students for higher education and careers in the above listed areas. Worldwide, DECA memberships include 180,000 students and advisors. Currently, Morgan High School’s DECA chapter has 35 members, and is still growing. Morgan High’s DECA will be a part of Utah’s Northern Region, which is nationally a part of the Western States Region, and will cost $15 (covers state and national dues).
As an officially recognized club, DECA is beneficial to students in a variety of ways. Not only does DECA promote educational excellence, but it also offers business experience and expertise that can be listed on college and employment resumes. Morgan High School’s chapter promotes business learning through unique experiences that include a game day operations tour with the Utah Jazz and volunteering at Morgan High’s spirit store. Students’ can also participate in DECA’s business competitions at the regional, state, and national levels. Scholarships are awarded to winning students at the national competition level.
DECA is an integral part of various classes offered at Morgan High School. These classes include entrepreneurship, sports marketing, business communication, and accounting.
