Campus Connection for September 23, 2011

Article Date:

Many are familiar with the African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.”  Similarly, Buddha taught, “…people may live in a community but it is not one of real fellowship until they know each other and have sympathy for one another.”

This village/community mentality was demonstrated quite well in Morgan recently.  The Morgan community came together in a common cause.  That cause was a fund raiser for the Morgan School District Special Education Department.  The Morgan Community Theatre produced and performed the musical “Annie” August 25, 26, 27, and 29th at the Morgan High School auditorium.  The production was excellently done and well attended.

We, the special education department, would like to take this opportunity to offer our thanks for this great outpouring of support.  The cast, crew, and production team did an excellent job.  The show was fantastic!  The proceeds from this event will go to purchase supplies needed for the education of special needs students.  We look forward to continuing this event in years to come.

We would also like to thank the parents of our students and others for their support of our special education staff and students at this production and throughout their lives.  The patience and support they provide to their students and to us are invaluable.  We look forward to a continued relationships building positive bridges in the future.

You are always welcome to volunteer time or resources to our program.  We always have students who need assistance.  This could be as simple as spending a few minutes each week reading with and mentoring a student.  If you are interested please contact the special educators in your building.

Thanks again for all that you do.  What a great community!
