The flooding situation has been holding steady although the continuous rain will create additional problems in the days ahead. The current problems are the bridge in Croydon near the Holcim Cement Plant that keeps flooding over the road. The county is keeping it under control by removing debris that is getting stuck in the bridge.
There are also problems along Lost Creek Road that is causing road damage. The road has been submerged for a day and a half, which has caused damage to the shoulder. The county created a berm to hold it for now.
The larger problem seems to be the rising water table in the county. An increasing number of houses are having water seep into their basements as the ground water rises. County Emergency Manager Terry Turner advises those with basements to consider moving valuables out of the basements to higher locations until the current flooding situation is resolved.
