Vaughn and Janice Larson of Morgan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family September 18, 2010, in Morgan.
They were married on September 16, 1960, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He grew up in Morgan, a son of Raymond P. and Ann G. Larson. He attended school in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High School in 1956. After graduation he attended Weber State College, and then served in the North Central States Mission from 1958 to 1960, where he met Janice at a Minnesota Mission Conference.
They started married life living in Logan, while he attended Utah State University to earn a bachelor degree in education; she worked at the Walker Bank to earn her degree of PHT (putting hubby through). He taught school in Weber, Anoka, MN, and Morgan School Districts for a total of 34 years.
He served on the Morgan City Council for four years and as a Justice Court Judge for 17 years. He also served seven years in the Utah Air National Guard.
She grew up in Cambridge, Minnesota, a daughter of Donald J. and Grace P. Anderson. She attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1957. She worked at the First National Bank of Minneapolis after graduation. While living in Morgan, she served as County Treasurer for eight years and later worked in the Morgan Elementary School Lunch for 13 years.
They have both served in many ward and stake church callings in Minnesota and Utah. Together they served in the Singapore Mission 2001 to 2003, serving in Karachi, Pakistan, West Malaysia and Singapore.
Their five children and spouses are Kelly and Lee Fiacre, Plain City; David J. and Tina Larson; Janae and Blane Smith; Todd and Allison Larson, Morgan; Rachelle and Kevin Kaumeyer, North Salt Lake. They have 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
