Morgan has a history of producing exceptional dancers.  This year Hailey Shope, daughter of Mike and Teresa Shope, was one of many who have been determined to keep that legacy alive.
Hailey recently took home the coveted National Clogging MVP soloist award.  Over 8,000 dancers competed in the National Championships. The top cloggers were called up during the awards ceremony to dance off for the prestigious title. Hailey was honored to be called up to dance in the soloist and freestyle category. With an impressive showing, Hailey was crowned National Champion MVP soloist.
Hailey’s parents beamed with pride at the announcement.  “We are so proud of Hailey and her accomplishments this year.  She is such an amazing, humble and gracious person, you just can’t help but love her.  She has a heart of gold.”
The awards and titles she has won this year fill an entire table. This year alone, Hailey received multiple awards for overall solo, freestyle and duet champion at various competitions. She was also crowned the Utah State champion in freestyle and duets.
“I am so happy that all my hard work paid off,” Hailey said. Clogging is her passion and she enjoys the competitions as well as the friendships she gains.
In addition to her dance skills, Hailey is also an incredible student and civic leader.  She is in honor classes at Morgan Middle School, was nominated for the United States Academy award and is the Beehive president in her church group.
Hailey, 13, is second to the youngest of five siblings. She loves to ride her horse and play recreational volleyball.  She loves to go camping, hunting and fishing with family. Her favorite thing are riding her four wheeler, out-fishing her grandpa and just roasting marshmallows by the campfire.
Hailey would not be where she is today without her wonderful instructors Ayrion Myers, Cambria Gibson and Kandice Anderson, who taught her the love of clogging. She would like to thank her mom and dad for being there with her every step of the way and her brother, Jacob, who came to support her at every competition.
