On Thursday, September 15, the Lady Trojan’s volleyball team battled Bear River on the court. Ashlee Gallen led the team to a 3-0 win with 19 points (3 aces) and 13 digs while teammate Casidee Lish contributed 12 kills and 7 digs. The Trojan”s found themselves down 4-7 in the first game when Gallen served seven straight, the team held the lead for the remainder of the game. Serving 10 straight in the second game Gallen gave the ladies a comfortable lead at 17-5 setting them up for a 25-17 win. The team played hard throughout the match and the scores showed it, the final scores were 25-18, 25-17, and 25-16.
Tuesday, September 20th, the Trojan volleyball team travelled to Tooele for a showdown with the Tooele Buffaloes. With Mackenzie Schenk and Cassidee Lish each having nine kills and Katie Peterson serving for 19 points (3 aces) the Lady Trojans were able to continue their strong standing in Region 11. The scores for the Morgan /Tooele match were 25-21, 25-16, 25-15.
With the absence of starting senior Bailey Farris, due to a knee infection, the team has had to rally. “The kids have pulled together, each bringing something to the court”, said Coach Julia Fisher. “They are digging deep, each picking up their own game.” The team wishes Farris a speedy recovery, “We miss her and want her back, she is our teammate and our friend,” said Fisher.
Next week the Lady Trojan’s will play at Grantsville on Thursday, Sept. 29.
