To celebrate National Library Week in April, the Morgan County Library is sponsoring a story writing contest.
The four age categories for the stories entered: adult, 16 to 18 years of age, 12 to 15 years of age, and under 12 years.  Stories will be due by April 30 and should be no more than 1,000 words.
Please include the following with stories entered:  author’s name and age; address and phone number; email address; and title of entry. We would like entries to be submitted in electronic form, if possible, and emailed to Jana Peay at jpeay@morgan-county.net.  If your story cannot be electronically submitted, please bring it to the Morgan County Library by April 30.
National Library Week is the perfect time to visit your local library.
A book is a friend, an escape and a travel guide that gives us information and insight; with it our imagination can go wild.  Reading a book will be an adventure again and again.
The Morgan County Library offers these adventures to kids and adults and everyone in between.  As a part of this amazing community, the library is here for books and so very much more including computers, magazines, newspapers, story times, Lego Club, audio books and music.
Young mothers come to story hour to visit and help their children gain a love for reading.  Middle school kids stop by on their way home for a good book or some computer time.  Children come to see the fish and play with the toys while mom looks for a book to read that night while they sleep. Grandmas who can’t sleep come in for something to keep by their bedside.  Youth from the high school need tests proctored as they prepare for the next step in their life.  Commuters who spend hours on the road stop by for an audio book to pass the time. Homeschoolers come in with baskets full of books to return and take full baskets home again.  Cub Scouts need help to pass off requirements and Boy Scouts need service hours.
We at the library love our community and love the chance to be a part of filling the varying needs we all have is this busy world.  A library is a community center, a resource, a haven and an adventure waiting to happen.
