Alayna Gunn of Morgan has earned a $2,000 academic scholarship from Alliance for Affordable Services. Gunn plans to attend Brigham Young University this fall. This year Alliance awarded $186,000 in scholarships to 138 students across the United States. Since 1996, the Alliance Scholarship Program has supported approximately 1,600 students with more than $2.3 million in scholarships.
“The rising expenses associated with a college education are a real concern for families in today’s economy.  Alliance scholarships can allow members to stretch their financial resources for their children’s education,” explained Alliance President Dr. Paul Pevsner. “The Alliance is pleased it can help these students achieve their dreams.”
Any eligible Alliance member or their 16- to 28 year-old dependent may apply for this scholarship.  Recipients are selected by an independent panel according to academic performance. Recognizing that a college degree takes years to achieve, the Alliance offers $1,000 scholarship renewals for up to three consecutive years as long as the student maintains at least a 3.5 grade point average.
