MGE 5th graders make a character quilt

Article Date:

Inspired by Sam Johnson and the Blue Ribbon Quilt by Lisa Campbell Ernst, Mrs. Sheridan encouraged students in Mrs. Yorgason’s class to create a “quilt square” based on a character trait each student would like to acquire.

Each day for five weeks the students discussed a single quilt square’s trait.  They thought of different ways that a person could gain that trait, and what it would be like to have a friend with that trait.

The character quilt is now hanging in Mrs. Yorgason’s room to encourage each student as he/she works to become a better friend.
