Morgan Middle School held their second annual Celebration of the Arts Tuesday, Oct. 22, showcasing the drama, choir, art and band programs.
MMS Principal Terry Allen opened the program sharing how important the arts are for the students’ curriculum and how his desire was to give these talents the attention they deserved.
Mr. Mills’ mixed choir showed off their vocal skills while performing “Shalom Chaverim” and “The Water is Wide/Bring Me a Little Sylvie.” Throughout the evening commercials made by Ms. Wilder’s drama students were shown.  Using their persuasive skills, Wilder’s students promoted products such as Vampire sunblock, ZDT Zombie Depression Therapy, Pyro Cosmetics and more.
Throughout the past several months Dr. Johnson’s seventh grade band has been busy not only learning how to play an instrument but also working on their performance pieces “Jingle Bells” and “Mission Control.” MHS band featured the song “Apollo Fanfare” as well as “Ghost Lights,” which was written about Brown Mountain in North Carolina where mysterious illuminations have been seen for hundreds of years.
The Morgan Middle School Advanced Choir (Voci Bel Canto) made up the rest of the night featuring performances of “Yusareba” and “This Old Hammer.” Art created by Ms. Reid’s art students adorned the halls showing off their creativity and expression.
Dr. Johnson summed up the evening and told of the arts great importance in life as he stated, “Fine arts define us and help us to explore. It helps us understand who we really are.”
