A Morgan County employee since 2009 has moved up the ranks to accept a position as the new planning and development services department director.
Charles Ewert beat out 10 other applicants before accepting the position Nov. 26.
Ewert earned a Bachelor of Science in city and metropolitan planning in 2009 and a Master of Science in public administration in 2011 from the University of Utah.
He was a planning intern at Taylorsville city in 2008 and began his employment with Morgan County as a planning technician in January of 2009.  He has also been associated with an Ogden condominium homeowners association for over three years.
In his four years with Morgan County, he has seen three planning directors come and go.
Former planner Sherrie Christensen hired Ewert before the county let her go for unspecified reasons in May of 2009.  The county also let its engineer go at the same time.
Grant Crowell, Morgan’s planning director from March of 2009 to January of 2012, left the county to take a position as Bluffdale’s planner and economic development director.  Blaine Gehring was named as the county’s planning and development services department director in March of 2012 and recently left employment with Morgan County.
