Morgan FFA holds closing banquet

The Morgan FFA chapter held its end of year banquet on May 8 at Morgan High School to recognize members and supporters of FFA. 
To begin the banquet, 2013-2014 State Officer Calee Lott gave an excellent speech. Greenhand degrees were given to the following: Hunter Beddos, Preston Butikofer, Eli Canon, Jamie Carter, Caden Dawson, Darrick Eddington, Jessika Halls, Lily Henry, Brittney Jayo, Rory Mikesell, Brittany Morgan, Owen Pentz, Madisen Porter, Carson Porter, Logan Russell, and Carter Saunders.  
Star greenhand for second runner up was Darrick Eddington; first runner up was Brittany Morgan; star greenhand winner was Brittney Jayo for entrepreneurship; and Eli Cannon for placement. 
The chapter degree ceremony was next. Jenna Carter, Sadie Clark, Shaylie Dippold, Raelyln Hyde, Indee Mecham, Bailee Mikesell, Maloree Stapely, Ty Stephens, Ashley Wardell, and Baylee Stuart were all presented with chapter degrees. 
Star chapter winners are Jenna Carter, second runner up and Maloree Stapley for first runner up.  Star chapter winners were Sadie Clark for placement, and Ashley Wardell for entrepreneurship. 
State degree recipients were: Hanna Giles, Jessica Larsen, Courtney Sanders, and Jessica Carter. 
Bryan Chapel was recognized for earning his American degree, which will be awarded to him at FFA nationals this fall. 
Proficiency awards are awarded to those who have outstanding SAEs, or supervised agricultural experience: Hanna Giles for equine science, Jessica Larsen for diversified livestock; and Bryan Chapel for specialty animal. 
Trent Jaques with Young Ford presented the Ford scholarship to Courtney Sanders. 
Partners in Active Learning Support, also known as PALS, is an after school experience that allows FFA members to work with elementary students. These members did an exceptional job and won awards for doing so: Maloree Stapely, Madison Edson, Jessica Larsen, Courtney Sanders, Jenna Carter, Jamie Carter, Jessica Carter, and Michaela Mortenson.  
The next award was for outstanding leaders: Maloree Stapley, Ashley Wardell, Jamie Carter, Jenna Carter, Luke Larsen, Shaylie Dippold, Alex Taylor, Kameisha Kippen, Alex Eddington, Kelsey Gordon, Sadie Clark, Courtney Sanders, Jessica Larsen, Bryce Preece, Hanna Giles, Daxton Rowser, and Jessica Carter. 
Area contestants were Bailee Mikesell, prepared speaking; Jessica Carter, extemporaneous; Jamie Carter and Britney Morgan, creed; and Alex Eddington, job interview. Bailee took first place, Jessica took second, and Jamie took third.  
State contestants were recognized including: Alex Eddington, Sadie Clark, Bailee Stuart and Kelsey Gordon for vet science; Alex Eddington, Darrick Eddington, Brittney Morgan, and Brittney Jayo for livestock evaluation; Jenna Carter, Jamie Carter, Jessica Larsen, and Carson Porter for poultry; Isaac Cannon, Eli Cannon, Luke Larsen, and Maloree Stapley for meats. Poultry took second with Jessica Larsen raking first place individual.  Meats took first with Isaac Cannon raking second highest individual.  
Cory and Kristy Sanders, Cody and Melissa Carter and Robert Kilmer were awarded honorary membership. 
The blue and gold award was presented to Stan and Karri Larsen, Kim and Wynn Preece, Roland Haslam and Ray Little. 
Haslam Excavating and Young Ford we thanked for sponsoring and supporting the organization so much this year. 
This past year has been rough, but two outstanding people helped so much.  Megan Haslam, Wade Murdock and Sue Kunz were awarded plaques for their much appreciated service. Destiney Field, Michelle Dippold, Jana Brown, Cheri Matthews, Wendy Mikesell, Mary Jane Pillips, Leatha Mikesell and Mehan Haslam were thanked for making all of the trips and activities possible.  
Multiple members were awarded personal growth certificates including Ashley Wardell, Jenna Carter, Jamie Carter, Naomi Matthews, Carter Sanders, Alex Eddington, Darrick Eddington, Kelsey Gordon, Logan Flinders, Brittany Morgan, Carson Porter, Sadie Clark, Ty Stephens, Bailee Mikesell, Mika Preece, Isaac Cannon, Alex Taylor, Eli Cannon, Kameisha Kippen, Raelyn Hyde, Elissa Clark, Maloree Stapely, Logan Russell, Shaylie Dippold, and Bailey Stuart. 
Members of the year are Carson Porter, Jenna Carter, Kelsey Gordon, and Isaac Cannon. 
Congratulations went out to this year’s seniors including Jessica Carter, Jessica Larsen, Courtney Sanders, Byrce Preece, Mika Preece, Luke Larsen, Isaac Cannon, Maverick Johnson, Elissa Clark, Chase Grandpre, Naomi Matthews, Marissa Morgan, Brook Pierce, Tyson Spens, and Candice Wilkinson. The FFA wishes them luck on future endeavors. 
Last but not least, the 2014-2015 officers and committee chairs were announced.  Daxton Rowser, Maloree Stapely, and Darrick Eddington are committee chairs; Bailee Mikesell is historian; Jamie Carter is sentinel; Ashley Wardell is reporter; Sadie Clark is treasurer; Jenna Carter is secretary; Kelsey Gordon is co-vice president of committees; Alex Eddington is co-vice president of program of activities, and Hanna Giles is president.
