On April 7, 8, and 9 the first Morgan High Alumni Basketball Tournament was held to help raise funds for the Boys Basketball program and the Morgan Education Foundation to help with the New Century Sports Building that will begin construction this Spring.
It was great to see alumni in the gym together playing with their team mates from past years.
There were 16 teams divided into two divisions. Graduates from 2002 – 2011 played in the Maroon division and 1981 – 2001 played in the White division.
The team of 1997 won the White division and the team of 2002 won the maroon division.
The games were competitive and some players still have game. Free throw competitions were held at half time with some players that graduated in the 50’s to some current MHS players involved.
It was a great success with $1,750 raised for the boy’s basketball program, and over $4,000 going to the Century Center.
Thanks to the Education Foundation, the players and the community that supported the tournament. Plans are already in place to make it an annual event with ideas for improvement next year.
