Last week the Morgan Lions Club hosted their always-popular annual basketball tournament.  Lions Club President DeOrr Peterson thanked everyone who helped to make this year’s basketball tournament a fun and exciting event.
Morgan boys and girls eighth grade teams played in the championship game but fell to strong teams from the Salt Lake City and Ogden areas.
In the girls division, Morgan, coached by Clark Blazzard and Kirby Jensen, beat North Summit before losing to Rocky Mountain Junior High School.
“I have been coaching teams in this event for six years now and the kids always impress me,”  Blazzard said.  He continued saying that all his children look forward to this tournament and praised the Lions Club for doing such a great job putting it on each year.
The boys team, coached by Ben Russell and Russ Campbell, beat North Summit, then lost to a team from West Jordan.  Morgan seventh grade boys team, coached by Craig Miles, played extremely well and took the consolation trophy.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used to help provide a scholarship to a student at Morgan High School.
