Peter Christensen, a student at Morgan Middle School, not only won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Jan. 10, 2012, he also earned a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship.  The school-level bee, at which students answered oral and written questions on geography, was the first round in the annual National Geographic Bee.
Other students participating in the final competition  included; Lily Long, Mason Ralls, Seth Wilkinson, Kade Hill, Peter Christensen, Devin Winchester, Madison Wilde, Meagan Matthews, Olivia Erickson, and Emma Lindley.  Alternates were Beth Pobanz, Tavon Fern, and Tyler Moake.   By the end of the final round, Peter Christensen had taken first place with Madison Wilde taking second and Emma Lindley taking third place.
Peter will now take a written test; up to 100 of the top scorers in each state will be eligible to compete in the state Bee on April 5, 2013.  State champions will then compete in Washington, D.C. and the winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship.
Congratulation Peter and good luck!
