If you like Wood Creations, you are going to love the newest store on Commercial Street: Morgan Valley Crafts. For some time now, many Morgan City Council meetings have been focused on revitalizing Commercial Street and we are starting to see the success of their hard work.
Don Anderson, publisher of The Morgan County News, has been mulling over ideas for a new business in Morgan for quite some time. He wanted to open something that would complement the existing businesses on the street and decided that a craft store would certainly fit that bill.
Morgan Valley Crafts welcomes new employees Anna Phelps and Katie James. Phelps will be the manager of the craft store and is thrilled to have the opportunity to help Morgan residents create beautiful things for their homes. Phelps also commented on how excited she is that locals will no longer have to go down the canyon for their wood crafting needs. Phelps is from San Diego and moved to Morgan seven years ago when her husband, Michael, took at job as a seminary teacher for Morgan High School.
Anderson jokes about being a small business collector and can’t wait to start this new venture. The craft store is still under construction, but will open Tuesday, Nov. 6, with hours from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Morgan Valley Crafts will feature unfinished wood products as well as all the supplies to finish them such as scrapbook paper, glitter, paint, adhesives, ribbon and more. However, the store will likely expand as time goes on.
Open crafting hours will be announced once the classroom is finished, but the first class will be held Nov. 17 and will feature a Christmas countdown block set. Watch the Morgan Valley Crafts’ facebook page for open crafting hours, giveaways and special events.
