Morgan Valley Memories for the Week of August 6th

1930
Mrs. James Taggart of Lewiston, Utah and Mrs. Henry Taggart of Salt Lake City visited here a short time Sunday at the homes of their cousins Mr. Bert Dickson and Mrs. Geo Hansen. They were at Como Saturday for the Taggart reunion.

The Misses Vera and Melba Condie are guests at the home of Miss Carma Francis.

1935
The importance of proper inflation of tires to driving safety and tire economy cannot be overemphasized, according to Leo Carter of Carter’s Texaco Service.

At the Morgan LDS Stake Priesthood Session Sunday afternoon, the Young Mutual
Improvement Association Stake Carma Turner was named as President. Mrs. Goldie Waldron, first counselor and Mrs. Sommers as second counselor. Margaret Little was retained as secretary. The retiring presidency is Miss Lovinia Francis, president; Miss Meade Crouch and Mrs. Thelma Rogers as counselors.

1940

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Parley Carter. All doing nicely.

Commissioner’s Errol D. Eddington and wife, and Joseph W. Williams and wife, were guests of the associated civic clubs of Northern Utah at a picnic luncheon.

1945
Pac. Henry A Grover,  whose widow Mrs. Leon Dingman Grover resides in Morgan was killed in action on July 13.

Mrs. Douglas Ovard, formerly Miss Thelma Johansen left Tuesday evening for Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to be with her husband AC Douglas Ovard during his stay there. Doug is serving as a crewmember of a submarine.

Ralph Carter, who is stationed in California is enjoying a ten day furlough at his home here.

1950
James Frongner, 63,  of Stoddard sustained a fractured leg and abrasions and bruises when he was struck by an automobile near his home.

1985
Volunteer firefighters show off their new protective clothing.  In the photo were Allen Carrigan, Bret Carrigan, Boyd Carrigan, Harold Fry, Dave Rich, Max Mecham, Dale Peterson, Howard Foley, and Butch Sommers.

Brian Preece of Stoddard caught a 22 lb 37 inch long mackinaw at Flaming Gorge. The photo was in the photo.

Joseph W. Williams, 75, passed away.

1990
Morgan County Commissioners Jeff London, Carol Hardy and Dee Waldron welcomed everyone to the Morgan County Fair.

1995
Morgan Fair Royalty is Queen Kathy Call, with Princess Jessica Lott and First Princess Ashley Richins and Little Miss Morgan Whitni Phillips.  The Senior citizen Award at the parade was Queen Martha Mikesell. Sisters Janet Little Randall and Cindy Little London were Morgan Fair Queens in 1969 and 1976.

Girl Scout Amanda Kilbourn attended Space Camp in Oklahoma.

2000
Wayne and Deyon Spendlove celebrated their Golden Anniversary.

2005
Veldon Ernest Bell, Jr. passed away. He was 68.

Rhea and Lyle Smith celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

The Fair Grand Champion Steer Winner. Chad Crossley, Grand Champion Hog Winner Cheyenne Schmid and the Grand Champion Lamb was Alex Blazzard.
