UTA to present transportation options, explore support of sales tax increase
The Utah Transit Authority is presenting plans for public transit service in Morgan County Wednesday, May 28 in Mountain Green. Their presentation to the public will include options such as van pools, commuter transit from the county to four stops in the Weber/Davis county area, community shuttle, volunteer driver program and travel vouchers.
If the presentations are well received, the matter could come before voters on the November ballot to approve a sales tax increase. To receive these services, Morgan would have to officially be annexed into UTA following specific steps and guidelines, including a local option sales tax increase. If approved by voters, the tax increase would increase one-fourth to one-half of one cent per dollar of sales tax.
