American flags presented to county, Boy Scouts
Mountain Green resident David Sawyer, who recently returned from serving with the U.S. armed services in Afghanistan, presented both Morgan County and Boy Scout Troop 576 with American flags for their service.
When Sawyer returned home May 24 after seven months in Afghanistan, flags lined the streets leading to his newly built home in the Rollins Ranch subdivision.
“It was amazing to see the flags lining the streets,” Sawyer said. “I appreciate the work you did to make this possible. It meant a lot to my family. It was a great welcome to the community.”
To show his gratitude, he had flags flown over Afghanistan in both the county’s and Boy Scout Troop 576’s names.
When Sawyer returned home, Morgan County Councilwoman Tina Kelley was in South Carolina. She made a few phone calls, and “the community made something special happen,” she said.
