Each year many students transition to new grades and new schools and there are always new students and students who move out.
These changes affect bus stop locations and change the number of students on the route. The transportation department will be reviewing each bus route the first week of school to see if changes need to be made to the stops or routes.
For the first two weeks of school, students will be picked up at their approved bus stops from last school year. The second week of school letters will be handed out to students these changes affect.
The transportation department will be following bus route approval specifications from Utah code R277-600 on bus route approval which are:
The school district designates safe areas for bus stops.
(1) To promote efficiency, the USOE approved 3/10 of a mile as the minimum distance between bus stops.
(2) Bus routes shall avoid, whenever possible, bus stops on dead-end roads.
(3) Parents are responsible for transporting their own students to bus stops up to one and one-half miles from home.
They will be working to provide safe transportation to the community while working in compliance with the state laws on school transportation.
