The Morgan Trojans moved to 2-0 in Region 11 play last Friday, dominating the Ben Lomond Scots by a score of 58-13 in Ogden.
The Trojans dominated from the opening minute, scoring on running back Joe Kippen’s 59 yard run from scrimmage barely two minutes into the game. The Trojans would go on to score three more times in the first quarter.
Lantzen Toomer scored on a 5-yard run, Matt Murdock ran for a 24-yard score, and Parker Lucas scored from 8 yards out for a 28-0 lead at the end of the first.
It didn’t get any better in the second quarter for the home team Scots, when Trojan junior quarterback Ben Saunders tossed a 3 yard scoring strike to wideout K.T. Tibbitts. Saunders would end the game with an efficient game, completing five passes out of eight attempts for 66 yards and one touchdown. Midway through the second, runningback T.J. Padelsky scored on a 3-yard scamper to give Morgan a huge halftime lead of 42-0.
Morgan’s defense was dominating, holding the Scots to -2 yards in the first quarter, and only one scoring opportunity in the second, which ended in a missed field goal for the Scots. Kyle Stapley, Cameron Skinner and Lantzen Toomer lead the way defensively for the Trojans with Stapley corralling five tackles and a quarterback sack, and Skinner and Toomer each having 4.5 tackles and three assists each for the game.
The Scots would finally get on the scoreboard in the second half, scoring 13 points. The Trojans themselves would score 16, all in the fourth quarter, highlighted by Joe Kippen’s 97-yard run to paydirt in the first minute of the quarter.  Toomer would score his second rushing TD, a 25-yard scamper just a minute after Kippens. Payton Ertmanns saftey rounded out the scoring for the Trojans and account for the 45-point margin of victory. Kicker Camen Gray was a perfect 8-8 in points for the Trojans.
The Trojans play the undefeated Stansbury Stallions at home this Friday night. The winner of this game will have the upper hand at first place in region 11 play.
