Utah Jazz player to visit Morgan youth

Article Date:
1 August, 2014 (All day)

Every year local youth look forward to an appearance from one of our very own Utah Jazz players.  For the second year in a row, Morgan kids will have the opportunity to meet 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Champion Jeremy Evans on Monday, Aug. 4.
Last year Evans was a huge hit with the children who attended.  He shared words of wisdom.  Evans told the children that listening to his mom, staying in church, believing in God and finishing school are the things that made him successful.
Evans joined the Jazz in 2010, coming from Western Kentucky University, where he graduated in art.   He encouraged those in attendance to finish high school and graduate from college.  Not resting on his celebrated basketball skills, Evans is also scoring points with his art.  His pieces are making their way around the athletic circuit.
Evans recently combined his passion for art and community outreach by working with youth from The Road Home Shelter on an art project on display in downtown Salt Lake City.
Evans is a forward for the Jazz, measuring at an impressive 6’ 9” tall and is the only player in Utah Jazz history to win the NBA dunk contest, his win coming in 2012.  He also finished second in the competition in 2013.
Arguably one of the most athletic players in the NBA currently, Evans is known for his high flying dunks, blocked shots and constant energy.
Jr. Jazz is sponsoring the event, but anyone and everyone who would like to meet this accomplished sportsman are invited to come out and enjoy the afternoon.  There is usually autograph time at the end of the event and a lot of hands-on involvement with Evans.
The organizers would love to see a huge crowd for Evans, so please bring your kids out to the Trojan Center on Monday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m.  The kids always have a great time, so come and join the fun.
