Randon Benjamen Prochnow, son of Brian and Cheryl Prochnow, has been called to serve in The Toronto Canada, Spanish speaking mission. He will be speaking in the Morgan 2nd ward, (Rock Chapel) at 9 a.m. Sunday May 27th. He reports to the MTC on June 6th.
Sixty years ago Harold and Mary Ellen met, fell in love, and then were married on May 24th. During these past sixty years they have raised three children; Grant (Annette) Laughter, Scott Laughter, and Candy (David) Stevens. They have 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who are their pride and joy. There will be an open house on May 26 from 5 to 7 p. m. at their home, 830 East 100 South in Morgan. The family would like to invite all friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to come by and help us celebrate their 60 years together. Please, no gifts.
Don and Joan Winn will celebrate 50 years of marriage on May 25, 2012. They met while they were students at Brigham Young University and were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1962. Don was born in Pocatello and raised in Rexburg, and Joan was born in Salt Lake and raised in East Millcreek.
Jeanice Randall will celebrate her 80th birthday on May 29. A family picnic will be held in her honor May 28. She was born May 29, 1932 ,in Round Valley, Morgan, Utah, to Cecil and Harriet Tonks. She attended Morgan schools and has lived in Morgan all her life. She has one brother, Lorin C. Tonks of Milton, Utah. Jeanice married Homer F. Randall on December 11, 1953, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Homer died December 21, 1996.
Jessie L. Permar has completed the requirements for a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s, School of Social Policy and Practice. Graduation ceremonies will be held at UPenn’s, Philadelphia Campus, May 2012.
Bill and Gaylene Bateman of Morgan are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Mollie Rose, to Joel David Steven Herrey, son of Per and Eva-Linda Herrey of Kungsbacka, Sweden. The marriage will take place on June 14 in the Denmark, Copenhagen LDS temple.

Clarence Dawson Nelson, 79, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Lakeview Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1932 to Clarence Sherman and Florence Dawson Nelson in Ogden, Utah. Clarence graduated from Ogden High School. He moved to Morgan where he resided for 16 years before returning to Ogden where he has lived since.
Each year the Lt. Governor presents the Silver Bowl Award to volunteers for outstanding volunteer service. This year Mable Welsh received the Silver Bowl award. She was the only volunteer at the ceremony in Provo to receive a standing ovation and then a kiss on the forehead from the Lt. Governor.

(Ret.) Major William Carl “Bill” Johns reported for “Heavenly Duty” at 0245 hours, on Monday, 19 March 2012. Bill was born on 29 April 1935 in Carey, Idaho to Carl Emeris Johns and Louise Wilde Johns, and is the oldest of five children. Bill was a beloved elder brother to his siblings. From an early age he set an example with his strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and devotion to his Heavenly Father.
Elder Zaine Farris, Son of Jann and Wendy Farris, has been called to serve a LDS Mission in Tampico, Mexico. He will speak in the Morgan 8th Ward (Porterville Chapel) on Sunday March 18th at 9am; he enters the Mission Training Center on March 21st.
Robert Price passed away peacefully on March 9, 2010, in Lake Havasu, Arizona. He was born November 7, 1932, to William and LeEttia Price in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Barbara Ann Bowen Lewis passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 from complications following heart surgery. Barbara was born September 20, 1928 to Asel Carlos and Elva Lucy Everton Bowen in Logan, UT.
Gertrude Evelyn Koemel McEwen, age 86, passed away March 12, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Syracuse, surrounded by all her children. She was born January 18, 1926 in Robstown, Texas to Walter Adolph Koemel and Clara Wilhelmina Magdalena Steger Koemel. She married Earl James McEwen, December 2, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and Earl moved with their growing family from Texas to several places in Utah and Idaho settling in Ogden, Utah until moving to Mt. Green, Utah for retirement.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Sherie Porter Wright, 57, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her sweetheart and surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at her home in Peterson, Utah.
William and Beverly Dahlquist will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 14, 2012. They were married in Morgan on March 14, 1962. They have resided in Morgan for 47 of those 50 years. They have been actively involved in the local community. Many residents visited the Dahlquist home each year for Bill to prepare their income taxes. Bev delivered newspapers for 14 years in the County; and they owned and operated “Buzzys” and “The Country Café” on Commercial Street until its closing.
Bertie Ricks Smith, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home of 46 years on March 4, 2012. Bertie was born on November 6, 1928 to Arthur Warren Ricks and Gladys Jenette Huskinson of Sugar City, Idaho. She married William Lloyd Smith in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 23, 1950.
Richard Allen Sloan, 79, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and friend passed away February 19, 2012 after struggling with Alzheimer and Parkinson disease for the last eight years.
Dr. John Thomas Cloninger, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend died at his home in Morgan, Utah on February 20, 2012, with his family at his side. He was 42 years old.
Elder Michael Blake Midgley has been called to serve an LDS mission to the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo West Mission. He is the son of Michael and Susan Midgley.
Shirley was raised in Farmington and Kaysville by her parents, Albert and Virginia Udy Epperson. She attended Davis High School until her family moved to Morgan, where they owned and operated the Morgan County News and the Summit County Bee. After graduating from Morgan High School, Shirley attended the University of Utah where she majored in journalism and lived in the Alpha Phi Sorority House. Shirley had beautiful red hair and a personality to match. In 1954, she was crowned as Salt Lake City’s Miss Flame, a beauty pageant held exclusively for redheads.
Garrick Norman Richins son of Brett and Janny Richins, and Teisha Potter daughter of Randy and Nancy Potter, have chosen to be married for time and all eternity on February 16, 2012 in the Bountiful LDS Temple.
