Volleyball team represents Morgan at nationals

Recently a group of 13-year-old girls boarded a plane and headed for sunny Florida.  They were there to play but this was not a relaxation or sightseeing trip.  Instead the preteens worked hard and competed.  A group of seven girls from Morgan and one from Kaysville made their way to the National Volleyball Championship after winning a tournament qualifier.

Wedding - The Markhams

 

Errin Johnson and Zach Markham were married on May 30, 2012, at the Balmer residence in Kaysville. They were honored by family and friends at a reception that evening.

Errin is the daughter of Ron and Leslie Johnson of Kaysville and Zach is the son of Troy and Kathy Markham of Mountain Green.

Community Spotlight Earl Steen

“The whole thing with hot rodding is using original parts” said hot rod maker, Earl Steen from Morgan.

Rat rod, in today’s terminology for yesteryear’s hot rod or a cow patty on wheels, using new parts instead of original.

Obituary - William Donald Welsh

William Donald Welsh passed away peacefully in Kaysville, UT on Sunday, March 18, 2012, after a brief illness, just days short of his 88th birthday. Known by friends and family as Donald, he was born March 28, 1924 in Morgan, UT to Acy and Elizabeth Spendlove Welsh, the seventh of eight children. He was always proud to tell people he had been born in a log cabin.

Community Spotlight - Carla Cox

Carla was born in Mesa, Arizona and her family moved so she went to different schools and colleges but she has spent considerable time in Utah over the years. Her husband, Gregory, was a school superintendent, and they moved a lot in that capacity.  Greg is now the superintendent of a charter school in Kaysville after many years of serving in the public schools.

Wanda was born in Kaysville, graduated from Davis High and served a LDS mission in Scotland.  Rob was born in Renton, WA and then his family lived in Fresno, Ca.  He moved to Mountain Green when his mother Shirley married Wayne Wilkinson.  He attended Morgan schools and served an LDS mission in Uruguay.

Obituary - Shirley Bo Epperson Phillips

 

Shirley was raised in Farmington and Kaysville by her parents, Albert and Virginia Udy Epperson. She attended Davis High School until her family moved to Morgan, where they owned and operated the Morgan County News and the Summit County Bee. After graduating from Morgan High School, Shirley attended the University of Utah where she majored in journalism and lived in the Alpha Phi Sorority House. Shirley had beautiful red hair and a personality to match. In 1954, she was crowned as Salt Lake City’s Miss Flame, a beauty pageant held exclusively for redheads.

Morgan lends helping hand after windstorm

Thursday Paul Simmons, Lead lineman for Morgan City Power received a call from Kaysville Power Department asking for assistance.  Morgan City Power Department responded immediately by sending Matt Stuart and Kent Kummer.

Wedding - Boyer ~ McBride

 

Deven Boyer and Nick McBride were married July 23rd at Solitude Mt Resort. Deven is from Morgan and graduated from the U of U. Currently she works for Chrysalis as an Advocate for people with disabilities. Nick is from Kaysville, also graduated from the U of U and is currently employed by Fidelity Investments in SLC. They have a home in Farmington and plan a wedding trip this fall. An open house from 7-9 is being held at the McBride home 996 Windsor Lane, Kaysville on July 30th. Please join us.

Morgan Valley Memories for the Week of July 16th

 The Morgan High Class of 1943 met on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneer building. They had a dinner, and talked of old times. Of the Class of 1943, there were 13 members of the class at the reunion.
