Is there anyone who hasn’t heard of Taggart’s Grill in Taggart?  The establishment has been serving lunch and dinner for nine years, and its fame has spread far and wide. It began as a gas station in the 1930s when two Taggart boys asked their uncle for some money to start up a station and some cabins.  It expanded to a place that sold burgers and fish bait.  At one point, a bobcat was kept on the porch. In the 1970s or early 80s, it burned down and Howard Taggart sold it to Elaine Stoddard, who owned it from 1996 to 2003. It is now owned by the Tuttle family and if you haven’t been there, you are missing a treat!

Labor Day often means a weekend of camping or a day off of work.  For 13-year-old Branden Brooks and nearly 30 others, Labor Day meant labor and lots of it.  The story starts several years ago when Branden set a goal to receive his Eagle Scout award before his 14th birthday.  

“Celebration of Art,” was written on the window of the Rocky Mountain Fine Art Gallery to indicate the open house, which was held June 1, in celebration of their first year anniversary. 

“The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims have been born of earnest struggle…If there is no struggle, there is no progress.  Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.”

The Morgan High School and Middle School choirs came together to present their annual fall concert called “How can I keep from singing” conducted by Mr. Michael Mills, with his own piano teacher Suzanne Gibbs accompanying some of the music groups.
