In my opinion, to take more money from the pockets of Morgan residents demonstrates arrogance of the Morgan school board members and Superintendent who want to preserve or expand the status quo rather than looking for ways to cut programs, eliminate waste, and better manage existing tax revenue.

Auditors gave Morgan City a clean bill of financial health during the fiscal year 2012 financial report.

Auditors gave Morgan City a clean bill of financial health during the fiscal year 2012 financial report.
Tax revenues increased $30,000 and sales tax increased $50,000 compared to the prior year.

Letter to the Editor - From John Triplett

The last issue of TMCN reported that the Cottonwoods subdivision developer had requested incremental tax funding for a reservoir that he/they want to develop in conjunction with his North Side Creek subdivision.  Incremental tax is the tax difference between the undeveloped land (the bare lot) and the property after it has been developed (i.e., in this case after homes have been built on the lots).
