Parker Randall Ross, son of Mitch and Teri Ross, has been called to serve in the Texas Lubbock mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will speak on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Field Street Chapel. He reports to the MTC in Provo, UT on Aug. 15, 2012.

Barbara Joy Whitear Palmer, 81, returned to the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on July 5, 2012.  Barbara was born in Peterson, Utah, on March 9, 1931, to Albert and Clara Whitear.  She married Quenton James Palmer on April 16, 1948.  Together, they had three children, Cheryle (Randall) Manning, Wendy (Larry) Farr, and Gary (Kathi) Palmer; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Elder Toben Gray has returned from the Texas Dallas spanish speaking mission. 

He will be speaking April 15th, 2012 to Rosehill Ward in the Mountain Green Chapel at 12:45 p.m.

Wanda was born in Kaysville, graduated from Davis High and served a LDS mission in Scotland.  Rob was born in Renton, WA and then his family lived in Fresno, Ca.  He moved to Mountain Green when his mother Shirley married Wayne Wilkinson.  He attended Morgan schools and served an LDS mission in Uruguay. 

Dr. John Thomas Cloninger, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend died at his home in Morgan, Utah on February 20, 2012, with his family at his side.  He was 42 years old.

Although Lon and Lauri Eskelson had spent their whole married life in Plain City,  Lauri says their recent move to Morgan last spring “felt like they were coming back to their roots”.  Long-time Morgan residents might know Lon’s dad (D.W. Eskelson) who was born in the town of Devil’s Slide and even taught there before later teaching in Morgan. Lauri originates from Farr West, while Lon mostly grew up in Plain City, which is where they ended up raising their children.  Lauri likes to tell the funny story about when her friend introduced her to Lon. Until then, she had never heard the name Lon before, so she asked “like the mower?” 

Steven Gudmundson is Morgan High’s new woods teacher.    His curriculum encompasses all drafting, woodworking and construction classes.  He graduated from Westwood High School in Austin Texas in 1996,  and then went on to graduate from BYU.  He came to Morgan because of a job opportunity,  and is enjoying his time here.  Mr. Gudmundson enjoys furniture design and is excited for the opportunity to teach this to his students.

Clifford Leon Whetten left this mortal existence on September 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. His passing was sudden yet sweet, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. At the time of his diagnosis, Clifford was serving as the MTC President for the LDS Church in Lima, Peru.

The Morgan Airport is planning a fly-in at the airport for June 4.  The event will have displays of World War II vehicles including Jeeps, motorcycles, and airplanes.   It is a chance for residents to see the aircraft of World War II up close.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Adam R. Aimo graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
