Obituary – Jane Dawson Merz

Our kind and loving mother, Jane Dawson Merz, 85, of Morgan, passed from this earthly plain on Sunday February 27, 2011 to be reunited with her eternal love, Martin. Cancer took her physical body but her spirit lives on. Jane was born on November 17, 1925, in Henefer, Utah. She was the seventh of nine children born to Meredith Andrew and Ellen Emily Toone Dawson. She married Martin Paul Merz on March 31, 1945, in Dyersburg, TN, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their loving and devoted marriage lasted for almost 65 years until his death in 2009. Their eternal journey now continues. Mother excelled at being a military wife. During their many moves and deployments, dad always knew he could count on mom to keep the family together and running smoothly. Mom raised her children with a firm but loving hand, and always led by example. Mom was a gatherer of people with a warm and caring affection for others and a wonderful sense of humor. Her door was always open. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a deep and committed testimony. She has held positions in all the auxiliaries of the Church, and she and dad faithfully fulfilled a mission to the Philadelphia, Harrisburg, PA Mission in 1986-1987. Mom had many talents, a beautiful voice, loved to quilt, cook and make crafts. She was dedicated and loyal to her family, grandchildren and friends. She could often be found working in her lovely yard and flower garden. She loved to visit with neighbors and was a dedicated member of the DUP. She is survived by four of her five children, Michael Paul (Marian) Merz, Provo; Martin Meredith (Mona) Merz, Orem; Janet Ellen Glick and Mary Ann Merz both of Morgan. She has twenty grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, son Louis Alan, grandson Adam Meredith Merz and great grandson Aidan Dallas Page. Her parents, three sisters and three brothers also awaited her on the other side. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Morgan 12th Ward Chapel (LDS Rock Church). Friends and family called at Walker Mortuary in Morgan, on the evening of Wednesday March 2, 2011 and Thursday prior to the service at the church. Interment South Morgan Cemetery. Mom and Dad traveled and saw the world. They can now continue their journey and adventures together. Send condolences to the family at walker-mortuary.com
