Obituary – Alfred LaMar Grasteit


Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend Alfred L Grasteit, 66, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 due to an accidental fall. He was born in Salt Lake City on January 7, 1945 to Alfred E and Hazel Beutler Grasteit. Al grew up in Bountiful and graduated from Bountiful High and attended Weber State College. He served an LDS mission to North Germany. After his mission he met and married Marilyn Pike on November 10, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Al worked for Safeway and Albertsons for his career and loved the people he worked with. After retirement he kept himself busy with gardening, serving others, and his community. Al was a volunteer firefighter for Clinton and Morgan for 30 years. Al love to travel and camp and was always planning a trip. He enjoyed fishing and hiking with his family and just being outdoors. Some of his favorite trips were to Israel, Alaska, Mexico and Disneyland, because he could spend time with his family. Al was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony. He loved serving as a Guest Service Missionary with his wife at Temple Square. He served in many capacities in the church and loved each one of them. He will be missed in helping encourage many young men to advance in the scouting program. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; his children, Todd (Charlene), Tammy (Darrin) Blaisdell, Tim (Tonya), and Troy. His brothers and sisters, Barbara Smith, Claudia Jones, Marge Nicol, Larry Grasteit, and John Grasteit. He will be greatly missed by his adoring 15 1/2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Hazel and his in-laws Melvin and Dorothy Pike. A tribute to a life well lived will be on Tuesday May 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morgan LDS Stake Center, 355 North 700 East, Morgan, UT. Friends and family may call at the Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, UT on Monday May 2, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to funeral services.
