On Tuesday former county council administrator Garth Day appeared in Federal Court and plead not guilty to six federal counts. Day made his first appearance in federal court before Judge Sam Alba. Day was originally charged in state court, but those charges were dropped earlier this year in favor of the federal charges. A trial date has been set for July 18 and Day remains free without bond, however both the US Attorney’s office and Day’s attorney indicate that a plea bargain is being negotiated. The US Attorney’s office has previously indicated that Day has cooperated with investigators and provided information helpful to the investigation.
