May 23, 1944-May 10, 2011 NORTH OGDEN Ò In the early hours of May 10, 2011, an angel slipped quietly and peacefully back into the arms of a loving Father in Heaven. Joan Durrant Ferrin was born in Morgan, Utah on May 23, 1944. She attended Morgan High School where she was drum majorette, played the flute, and served as the diary princess. It is also where she met the boy who for nearly 50 years, would affectionately call her My Sweetheart. Joan Durrant and Rex Taylor Ferrin were married for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on January 22, 1965 and a year later brought the first of their 11 children into the world. Yes. Eleven. Joan was a wonderful mother to: Shane (Gina) Ferrin, Shawn (Cristy) Ferrin, Chad (Jodie) Ferrin, Mindy (John) Diamond, Lori (Aaron) Beesley, Justin (Aimee) Ferrin, Jody (Kent) Swenson, Jamie (Kyle) Gomm, Jed Ferrin (deceased), Brody Ferrin, and Keelie (Carson) Hardy. Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Rex, her children, her 24 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and her brothers, Morris (Larraine) Durrant, Ray (Marilyn) Durrant, and Ken (Kris) Durrant. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jed Kimball Ferrin, and by her parents, Morris Dale and Hazel Florence Durrant, and by her husband’s parents, Harold Leon and Norma Ann Taylor Ferrin. Joan was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served continuously in the Primary and Nursery. She always loved little children and believed that Primary is where she belonged. Her most precious treasure was her family to whom she always devoted her love and life. Joan Ferrin leaves behind a significant legacy that will grow and flourish for generations. Mom, we will always love you. Funeral services will be held at the North Ogden 7th Ward, 205 East Elberta Drive in North Ogden at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Friends may call at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the church prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30.
