Graduation Brings Laughs and Tears

The commencement exercises at Morgan High School were an evening of laughs and tears. The graduating class of 160 students enjoyed the ceremony even as the contemplated their last evening together as a class. Individuals from Morgan’s past were honored who had taught, served and made a difference in the lives of students. The students were also treated to a trip down memory lane that reminded those attending that this class had been together since elementary school. Class experiences included a teacher locked in closet, food fights, and wardrobe malfunctions among others. The students were also given advice on preparing for the future as school board member Ken Durrant spoke to them. A beautiful musical number was offered by Sterling Scholar Michael Midgely on saxophone. The story was shared by a speaker of an ancestor who set out to do a senior prank of setting the M on fire. The prank worked perfectly and set the stage for a long tradition, still honored today, of lighting the M up to honor the graduates. The evening was brought to a close as the graduating class sang together the school song and then filed out to their final party together. We wish the graduates good luck on the commencement of a new stage in their lives.
