Morgan City is very close to completing the Splash Pad. The final concrete pour will be today. The water features are already in place. The city is working to complete the fencing early next week so that the splash pad can open in time for the 4th of July celebration in Riverside Park. The city is planning a ribbon cutting ceremony that will take place in the next few weeks. The hours for the splash pad are planned to be: Monday 1 to 8 p.m. Tues.-Fri. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday The city is working on the final rules, but reminds parents that children in diapers must wear swim diapers. Shoes will also need to be worn. There will be no lifeguard on duty and children need parental supervision while on the splash pad. Lastly no dogs are allowed on the splash pad nor in the vicinity of the splash pad for health reasons. This will bring to a close a long process from city leaders, particularly councilwoman Shelly Betz. The city has worked tirelessly to raise the money for the splash pad and it has been paid for by nearly all donated funds. The pad is coming just in time for the summer heat. With fireworks off the table for the 4th of July, at least it looks like residents may be able to cool down on the new splash pad and get a rest from the heat.
