50th Anniversary – The Harrops


Doug and Dianne Harrop of Mountain Green celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at the Timbermine restaurant. They were married Aug. 8, 1962 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints Arizona temple. They have been active in their church, he as a missionary to New England, then mostly in callings as a teacher/instructor. She served in many callings, including Relief Society president. Together they served a three-year guest service mission at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Arizona State University, taught high school, then worked 37 years for the railroad. He hired out with the Southern Pacific, worked 10 years in management, then worked to retirement in his life-long dream job as a locomotive engineer. She graduated from Weber College, worked at Motorola for six years while he was on his mission and attended college, and is a homemaker. He enjoys writing magazine articles for publication, photography, reading, good music (Mozart, Stan Kenton, Eagles, Brad Paisley, Mills Brothers) and Mopar muscle cars. She enjoys gardening, reading, walking, and doing family history with photography. Together they enjoy travel, watching sports on TV, family get-togethers and their grandchildren. Their children and spouses are Mike Harrop, North Ogden; Matt and Kris Harrop, Layton; Heather and Hudd Hayes, Washington Terrace. They have seven grandchildren: Ashley, Benton, and Madison Hayes and Jace, Josh, Jaxon and Heidi Harrop.
