It is nearly time again this year for RootsTech. This has become one of the best genealogical conferences in the United States, and it is right in our back yard. The conference runs from March 21-23. This year will have more sessions, a bigger display floor, and larger attendance that ever before. Early bird registration is still available for only $149.00. There is also a one-day rate for $89.00 and a student rate for $39.00. Story@Home will be presenting at the conference this year. Whether your story is written in a blog or shared as a living memory, Story@Home will help you bring your stories to life. Story@Home covers topics like: The art of storytelling Preserving oral histories and family memorabilia Creating family history traditions Using social media to share your story Publishing family stories There is also a beginner track. The beginner track will have access to more than thirty classes for only $39.00. This is a great way to get started if you have been interested in family history, but didn’t know where to begin. Classes will be taught by the leaders in the family history community, both technology and genealogical. Some of the classes offered will include: First Steps in Family History 50 Google Searches Every Genealogist Needs to Know Digital Cemeteries and Mobile Apps Picasa and Photo Filmstrip to Organize Your Photos Getting Organized The Cool Parts of Genealogy: Engaging My Teenagers Case Study Ten Fun Family History Activities Many, Many others There will also be an expanded session for Family History Consultants and those who volunteer in Family History Centers. The schedule for these classes should be released this month. These classes are free of charge. If you write software and want to learn about family history software applications there will be special classes for you. You will also have the opportunity to meet those already developing software and network with peers to learn the latest trends. I look forward to Rootstech each year.
