Westbound lanes on Interstate 84 were closed Tuesday when a semitruck carrying solar panels rolled over. The accident occurred at 3:05 p.m. at mile marker 89 near the power plant in Weber Canyon. About 100 gallons of fuel spilled, hazardous material crews were called to the scene. None of the fuel reached the Weber River. The truck’s driver, Andrew Eck, 24 of Nevada, lost control and hit a crash barrier, which caused damage to portions of the rear axle. The truck then flipped and slid, blocking both westbound lanes and damaging the asphalt. The Utah Department of Transportation repaired the freeway and rumble strip on the south side.
