Home Government Ray Little for Morgan City Council

Ray Little for Morgan City Council

Ray W. Little brings much political experience to his campaign for a four-year position on the Morgan City Council. He faces off candidates Jaden Ingle and incumbent Shelly Betz for one of two available seats in the Nov. 5 election. In addition to serving on several city, county and state committees throughout the years, Little has served on the Morgan City Council since 1994. In the past couple of years, Little said the city council has been most influential getting some new businesses located on Commercial Street. He looks forward to solidifying the location of a hotel in the city, something the council has been working on for years. When the hotel comes to fruition, that will be a big plus for the city, he said. If elected, Little said his time will be filled with the various parts of the hotel project, as well as future development on another end of the city that could expand current business and open up a new developable corridor. More business would increase the tax base, which gives more money not only to the city, but also the county and schools, he said. After almost two decades of involvement with city government, Little said he has learned that sometimes things move slowly, but it is important to do things according to rules, regulations and code. People don’t understand that we have to do things according to code, not just what you think is right, Little said. Little originally decided to become involved on the council as a way to give back to the community and make a difference. It is what keeps driving his desire even now. I like being on the city council, and I think I have been able to make a difference, Little said. Little, 61, is a former vocational agriculture, FFA, science, math and personal finance teacher at Morgan High school. He has served as a member of the Morgan City Board of Adjustments, Delta City Planning Commission, and MEA Credit Union board of directors.
