Find Your Family – It’s Time for RootsTech!

RootsTech is fast approaching and the conference looks better than ever. 2014 RootsTech will be held at the Salt Palace from February 5 to 8. February 5 will be a new day dedicated to software developers and will be called the Innovators Summit. This day will go back to the roots of RootsTech and have time dedicated to the developers so they can be in the exhibit hall during the main conference. This year’s conference will feature Ree Drummond as the opening keynote. Her website, thepioneerwoman.com, is a popular site where Drummond showcases her cooking, photography, and stories about her country life. Other keynotes will include Annelies van den Belt, FindMyPast CEO, Dr. Spencer Wells of the National Geographic Project, Stephanie Nielson and Todd Hansen. The conference has moved to a larger venue in the Salt Palace and so there will be room for the growth that has taken place each year. The sessions will also be closer together and many will have larger classrooms. There will be more than 200 sessions this year on a wide variety of topics that can help those just getting started as well as the experience researcher and software developer. There will also be a free day focused on Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday. Elder Neil L. Andersen, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will be joined by Elder Allan F. Packer, Heidi Swinton, and John Bytheway to inspire and inform attendees. Prices for the conference range from $19.00 for the getting started one day pass to $159 for the full four-day pass. The $159.00 is the early bird special and is only good until January 6. After that the full conference price rises to $189 until January 21 and then is $239. RootsTech has become the largest and the best overall conference on Family History in the United States. This year the conference will also have more than 400 remote sites with local conferences happening all over the world in conjunction with RootsTech. The conference may have as many as 100,000 attendees worldwide. Come join in the fun, excitement, and learning at RootsTech 2014.
