Pentz wins Super State; Morgan places fourth

After winning the 3A individual state title at 170 lbs, Owen Pentz won the 170 lb Super State title last weekend with a 6-0 decision over Ben Bolingbroke of Clearfield.
Chase Trussell suffered a loss in his 195 lb championship match to finish second, as did Morgan’s Wyatt Ekblad at 220 lbs.  Ekbald lost his match due to an injury default.  Morgan’s Nava brothers, Antonio (132 lbs) and Carlos (126 lbs), earned fifth and sixth place honors respectively.   The team finished fourth overall behind Maple Mountain, Box Elder and Layton.
The wrestlers now move onto the spring Freestyle and Greco-Roman season.  Morgan Wrestling Club will begin practices on March 1 at the high school for interested wrestlers.  PreK-fourth grade/beginners will practice from 5-6 p.m. with Coach Jade Woolsey. Fifth grade and older/advanced will practice from 6-7 p.m. with Coach Dustin Rock. For more information, see the Morgan Wrestling Club Facebook page or contact Kristin Korth or one of the coaches.
